The 2014 disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 and the contested satellite and thermal footage that appears to show the aircraft surrounded by orbs before vanishing
Updated
Everything else is contested, starting with the footage itself. Debunkers attribute the videos to VFX assets and stock cloud photography; the corpus counters that the "cloud photos were chopped up from one continuous picture" and that "The Debunkers Cannot Explain This New Footage." Forbes builds the authenticity case on details he argues a hoaxer would not know to fake: the crescent shape of the orbs, the "orange slice" thermal signature, the orbs slowing before a field reversal, and the fact that "The Plane Had to Fly Straight" — behavior he says matches the physics of the mechanism rather than cinematic instinct.
The provenance thesis is equally disputed. The sources claim the Gorgon Stare video was fed into a military intelligence network by Sierra Nevada Corporation, that Edward Lin "leaked the MH370 videos" through his VPU-2 access, and that a highly sophisticated CIA drone was already tracking the plane when the orbs appeared. The mechanism claims go further still: the orbs are described as toroidal plasmas that "create this bubble of energy around the plane," with the footage showing "a sphere bubble teleporting MH370" — a wormhole reading the corpus itself acknowledges sounds extraordinary. In "The Pattern of Disappearances Nobody Wants to Name," Forbes extends the argument to other vanished aircraft. None of these interpretations is corroborated by any official body, and the named institutions have not confirmed any element of the account.
The aircraft has never been found, and the official investigation closed without establishing a cause — on that much, the corpus and the mainstream agree. The original source and chain of custody of the orb videos remain unverified in either direction: no agency has authenticated them, and no debunk has been universally accepted. Forbes has called for congressional hearings on MH370, which have not occurred. Whether the footage is evidence, hoax, or something in between — and where 239 people went — remains open.
